Brett Plant

Freedom is built, not found.

I'm Brett Plant. I've spent 25 years in property: 100+ deals, homes for people who needed them most, and more 70-hour weeks than I'd like to admit. Now I build things that work without me. This is what I've learned about doing freedom properly.

Brett Plant

I call myself a walking contradiction. I've stopped apologising for it.

Relationship-led.

But I build things that work without me.

25 years in property.

Out of love with it as an asset class.

A dynamo who loves leading a room.

Who wants a two-to-three-day week.

I move fast.

But I take my time before I commit.

Social impact and capital.

Side by side, not in separate boxes.

Freedom's on every lifestyle brochure. Here's what it means to me.

Freedom of time

Not 40/50/60/70-hour weeks. Work that's engaging and fulfilling, managed in two or three days.

Freedom of place

Location independence is essential. If it can't run from anywhere, I haven't built it properly yet.

Freedom from being the bottleneck

Relationship-led to start, but it works without me. That's the only kind of business worth owning.

For landlords and ex-landlords

I've been a landlord for 25 years. I know the late-night calls, the tax changes, and the rules that shift every year. If property isn't giving you the life you bought it for, you're not the only one.

How I'm thinking about it

Housing with purpose

Through Oxygen Projects we create homes for supported living and social housing, working alongside councils and health partners. Because without stable shelter, everything else falls apart.

25+ years. 100+ deals. Homes for people who needed them most.

What I stand for

Honesty over comfort.

I'd rather have the argument now than in eighteen months.

Partnership over competition.

If you're further down the road than me, let's work together.

Your risk is not my experiment.

I've been on the wrong end of someone else's risk-taking, so I build from the side of the person whose money is at stake.
